FAQs

Do I need to be a member of the CIPD?

Yes, you do need to be a member to undertake a CIPD programme and you will be required to join as a student member at the same time as you register on the programme (the CIPD do impose a cost for failure to join).  If you are completing an Award on the Foundation programme it is not necessary to become a member.  Please note that subscription costs for CIPD membership are not included in our course costs.

What work-based evidence can I use for my portfolio?

Evidence can be any documentation that you have produced or contributed to, which can include policies, strategies, presentations, letters, emails, drafts, rough notes or minutes of meetings. Ideally evidence should be no more than 3 years old.

How long does it take to complete a CIPD qualification?

A guideline for completion of the Foundation programme is 7 months (Certificate), Intermediate (Certificate) is 13 months and Advanced (Diploma) is 2 years. These are only guidelines and qualification can be completed in less, or more time as your personal circumstances dictate.

I have previous CIPD qualifications do I get exemption for these?

It is dependent on what you have and the level you are studying at, but the programmes do have exemptions for some elements of previous study. If you would like to know more please contact the CIPD directly at 020 8612 6200

What do my fees cover?

Your fees cover full programme delivery a core text book, access to our Online Learning Centre, meetings, telephone and email support from your assessor-coach, assessment and feedback and accompanying programme workshops. Additional costs are the CIPD membership, CIPD exam fees (Advanced only), and any other text books.

What are my payment options?

You can make a payment to Busec using BACS transfer or a cheque.  We do not have the facility for credit card payments. As soon as we have received your payment you can start your course.   Staged payments are available please click here for details.  Your course will commence as soon as the first payment has been received.

How quickly can I start?

We are not tied to an academic year or a minimum number of learners for any of our qualifications and can, therefore, offer a start date that suits you.
