Getting started

There are no fixed start dates for any of the CIPD programmes of study we offer.  Once we have received payment you will begin your studies:

  • You will receive notification from the CIPD regarding your student membership
  • You will receive details of your log in for the PebblePad Learning Platform
  • You will access an induction workbook in PebblePad and upload your completed learning agreement with Busec
  • Your adviser will contact you to arrange a start-up meeting
  • You will receive an invitation to attend an induction workshop (for details and dates click here)

Start Up Meeting

At your first meeting you will;

  • Discuss your current role and circumstances to identify how you can meet the learning outcomes
  • Discuss and agree the structure and timescale of your programme of study
  • Set deadlines for the first pieces of work
  • Agree the date for your next meeting
  • Discuss which optional units you would like to complete

Using the the PebblePad Learning Platform

In between meetings you will;

  • Share your work with your adviser for guidance
  • Submit your completed work for assessment
  • Receive written feedback within ten working days
  • Receive telephone and email support from your adviser.

PebblePad automatically notifies you of your feedback it displays your submissions, has a messaging facility and allows you opportunities to collaborate with other students and your adviser.  It is accessible from anywhere with an internet connection and on all devices enabling you to work wherever and whenever is most convenient for you.

Meeting the learning outcomes

Our blended learning approach means we can help you meet the learning outcomes for each unit in a number of different ways;

  • Complete assignments which require independent study and research.
  • Validation of recent work-based experience
  • Attend workshops where relevant
  • Undertake professional discussions with your adviser

Workshop attendance

For some units we offer workshops, (click here for more details) you can use the work generated at the workshops as evidence to demonstrate understanding of the relevant issues and to meet the required learning outcomes.
