Martine Prudente

Student Services Manager

What do you do for the business?

I’m very often, but not always, the first person people will talk to via email or phone when they come to us to discuss their, or their employees development and how we can support them. I spend time looking at the best and most innovative ways we can support people and businesses to grow and develop. The core of my job outside of speaking to people is to work out ways to help Busec to grow and that can involve everything from providing solutions for software to fixing IT hardware problems to planning a social media strategy!

What is your favourite quote?

“Life is a boomerang, what you give is what comes back to you” Unknown

What is your favourite book or movie?

Book; The five people you meet in heaven by Mitch Albom, this is thought provoking and makes you think about the people you meet and how they impact on your life. Movies, I’m a movie buff so too many to list but I don’t make chick flicks, you’re more likely to find me watching a psychological thriller or a war film!

What is something people in your industry/niche have to deal with that you want to fix?

Identifying what people need to learn and how best they learn it, I want to find a solution that works for every individual or organisation, in one way or another.

What are your credentials/past experience?

My background is diverse in terms of sectors, law, media (newspapers) and construction. I’ve always worked in customer facing roles mostly in sales and then took a natural side step into marketing and understanding the customer on a larger scale. Since working with Busec I’ve become a bit of a qualification ‘collector’, I’m CIPD qualified, have a vocational assessor AQA qualification, a clutch of OU modules under my belt and currently studying for a CIM Diploma in Marketing.

What gives you the most satisfaction within your working life?

I love talking to people understanding what they want and seeing them begin and successfully finish their journey and giving them the best of service whilst they do it.

If you were a cartoon character which would it be and why?

Baloo from the Jungle Book… loving, playful, protective, a little clumsy (!) and loves food and music!

What are the values that drive you?

Candor, dependability, communication, development.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

Spending time with all the important people in my life particularly being with any of my 4 grandchildren who are 7,6,3 and 10 months and seeing the world through their eyes. (and studying but I’m not sure ‘enjoy’ is the right descriptor!). I’m also a trustee for a local autism charity which is close to my heart and I’ve recently rediscovered a love of cooking, mainly thanks to a food processor which makes everything so much easier to do!
