Jan Barrett joined Busec as an Associate in June 2003 and is registered as an Advisor/Assessor on both our professional assessment of competence (PAC) and NVQ programmes. She gained her own professional qualification in 1986 by following the academic route at The University of Portsmouth and later upgrading to Member and then Fellow. For several years she has served as Professional Advisor on the Board of Studies at Portsmouth University. For the past 15 years she has been an active member of the Portsmouth CIPD Group, serving as Secretary, then two separate terms as Chairperson. She has HR experience spanning 20 years in manufacturing and training companies, and this together with continuous professional development, have provided the skills and knowledge to solve a range of employee relations issue. After many years as a Senior HR Manager in a local marine electronics company, Jan now works as a consultant advising and presenting training on employee relations issues. Jan has a particular interest in the training of employee council representatives, equipping them with the necessary communication skills to evaluate and handle topics for presentation to their management.
